WHAT IS A MENTOR?

​

A mentor is defined as a safe adult friend who is a good role model. 

They are more experienced and stable in life and seek to further the development of character and competence in a younger person and helps them to build confidence and self-esteem.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF A NPP MENTOR?

​

• Mentors commit to spending quality time with their mentee

• Make sure that the mentee is safe during activities and safely returns home after

• Keeps information shared by mentee confidential, unless the mentor believes the mentee will harm themselves or someone else

• Communication with program staff

• A mentor is not an ATM machine, but may need to spend some money from time to time.
